Hundreds Pack Auditorium to Hear Dr. Michael Parenti
Standing room only for lecture on “Racism, Sexism, and Class Power”.
May 20th, 2007
Hundreds of Toronto residents packed the auditorium tonight at Ryerson University’s Student Centre to hear a CKLN-sponsored lecture by internationally renowned author, historian, anti-fascist and media analyst, Dr. Michael Parenti.
ARA Toronto members and supporters actively helped promote the event by putting up posters all over the central and eastern parts of the city, handing out flyers, and publicizing the event online. The hard work paid off when lines of dozens and dozens of people began to form, to hear the award-winning author of twenty books.
Speaking on “Racism, Sexism, and Class Power”, Parenti delved immediately into the origins of these topics, their interconnectedness with one another, and how they function in our society to maintain a divided system of economic exploitation. But don't take our word on what he spoke about – you can listen to the whole lecture right here!
Following the talk, there was a brief question and answer segment, as well as a book-signing and photo session where Dr. Parenti took time to speak to all those who stood in a long, winding line to see him. Copies of his books The Assassination of Julius Caesar and The Culture Struggle which were on sale quickly sold out.
A wonderful night was enjoyed by all who attended, as it was most certainly an event not to be missed. To get an idea about Dr. Parenti’s anti-fascist politics, you can check out his article Kozy with the Klan, and the chapter Rational Fascism from his book Blackshirts and Reds.

NOTE: Making the evening all the sweeter was the proud content enjoyed by antifas in the audience, who relished the large turnout to the lecture, knowing that it was of a size which Paul Fromm could never in his wildest dreams expect to have at one of his pathetically clandestine Tim Hortons-based meetings.
¡Antifascismo para siempre!
